Gunpowder Green tea – loose leaf – online sale

This tea has two versions to why it is named Gunpowder. The first is that when the British began the tea trade with China, they believed the tightly rolled leaves with their dark colour resembled gunpowder. The second reason is that the leaves are so tightly compressed that they spring into life when added to water. Once tried, the unique character and slightly smokey taste of gunpowder in not easily forgotten, making it one of the most popular teas in China. Due to its compressed nature, about half the normal amount of tea is required to make a pot of delicious, fragrant tea. Try around 1g per cup (half a teaspoon)
